History Of School During the golden era of the "Kotte Kingdom", there was a famous "Kovil" called "Isuru Kovila" existed there. In 1827, priests called as C.M.S. were settled there. Then in 1850, they built up the very place where the "Isuru kovila" was existed. On the 14th of October 1870, two schools were started by the names of St.Mathehew,s boys' school and St.Mathehew's girls' school. Mr.D.F.D.Silva and Mrs.W.M.D.Sahara were the two principals of them respectively. In 1962, all staff members were given appointments by the government. In 1920, classes were held into two sessions. But since1989, it was converted into the morning session basis. Our Present in Brief During the past 135 years time school was in a gradual progress to up keep its name on the top to be the best schools in the area . On the other hand ,during the last couple of years , there was a significant development of the infra structure. At present around 700 students study in the sinhala medium. As per the projections made ,to the year 2010, it is expected to have a growth of the number of students to 850.
